Unite Against Overdose, Addiction & Stigma

At Baltimore Goes Purple ~Together, BGPT, We believe in the power of education with youth to include transitional age youth (TAY), parents, caregivers, family members, community, and supporters. At BGPT, our team members are peers who utilized their lived experiences, training, and certification as Maryland Certified Peer Recovery Specialists and or peers in training supervised by a Maryland Registered Peer Supervisor toward state certification.

BGPT Peers are trained in Recovery and Wellness Support, Health Care  Intervention and Person-Centered Service Navigation, Trauma-informed care, Conflict Resolution, Sexual health, Outreach, Self-Care, and other continuing education-approved training authorized by the Maryland Addiction and Behavioral-health Professionals Certified Board, MABPCB.

Whether certified or in the movement toward state certification, our efforts are centered on peer engagement. BGPT strives to create a brighter community awareness and preparedness by being equipped with resources necessary in the event of an accidental overdose and assisting persons with access to support for improved health and wellness.

Why We're Going PURPLE

We love our communities, residents, and service providers in Baltimore and Baltimore County

Empowering Through Education

Having open, honest conversations about prescription pill misuse, legal and illicit substances, and alcohol and overdose and recovery is vital to equip our communities with the knowledge people need to make informed and healthy choices. Through engaging workshops, programming, informative resources, and impactful discussions, we provide the tools to prevent and educate persons served on the dangers of substance which may lead to dependence on addiction before it takes hold.

Building a Supportive Community

No one should have to battle addiction, mental health challenges, and stigma alone. We're committed to breaking down the barriers of stigma, ensuring that persons in need feel comfortable seeking support. We foster a compassionate and understanding community by offering person-centered support and care. At BGPT, we're here to support awareness, prevention, intervention, reduction of harm, and the journey toward recovery.

Our Goal

Our Goal is prevention, education, training, and connection from the risks associated with prescription medication and illicit substances, not excluding alcohol, marijuana, and other related substances that may result in dependence, addiction, and death.
